#FLIPZBAKES SPONSORS FUTURE CHEF COMPETITION

This year pladis continued their support of Springboard UK’s Future Chef competition by hosting the #FlipzBakerz National School Baking Competition.

​

Springboard UK helps people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the hospitality industry.

 

Its Future Chef competition is the largest National School cooking programme in the UK, engaging over 700 schools and 16,00 students. The winner will receive an entry to a GAME Belong Party and runners up will receive Wireless headsets and Flipz snack boxes. Check back after December 4th to find out who took the title.

DISPELLING THE STIGMA ATTACHED TO MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS

In the aftermath of the pandemic, many of us will have mixed feelings about returning to work and may have experienced trauma or loss. Therefore, it's important to be ready to start and respond to a mental health conversation. Pladis have partnered with Hospitality Action to raise awareness of mental health in the hospitality industry, recognising the personal and professional challenges people face, and providing support to those who need it.

Earlier this year they produced two case study videos. The first features Faye De Souza a sous chef with Compass who experienced a breakdown at a young age. The second features HA Ambassador Mitchell Collyer who shares his experiences of coming to terms with a new life after recovering from a serious illness. SEARCHING FOR THE BEST DECORATED BISCUIT

In association with NAPA, the experts in providing activities for people in care settings, pladis have been on the hunt for the nation's best-decorated biscuit.

 

The competition challenged care homes across the country to get creative and make a biscuit masterpiece built on a memory.

 

The winning entry, from Brandon House in Coventry, was based on a biscuit garden with a church, pond and greenhouse. Residents. Residents and the care team won an afternoon tea package worth up to £1,000.
