McCain Gluten Free Range to boost caterers’ profits

McCain Foods is helping caterers to profit from growing consumer demand for great tasting gluten free menu options with the launch of a range of gluten free foodservice favourites, including Our Menu Signatures Traditional Chips, Gourmet Chips, and Sweet Potato Fries.

Demand for gluten free options has been growing for some years, and with Coeliac UK predicting that the catering industry is missing out on an estimated £100m* a year by not catering to people with coeliac disease, and the friends and family they eat with, there is a huge opportunity available to caterers who offer great tasting gluten free options. In addition to those suffering from coeliac disease, there is also a growing trend among consumers to follow free from diets** which is increasing demand still further.

With the introduction of Food Information Regulation requiring operators to declare allergens on the menu, operators have the ability to offer a great tasting gluten free chip that is suitable for all consumers, without any additional menu declarations.

Richard Musgrave, McCain Foods Senior Product Manager, said: “Although only 1% of the population have coeliac disease, around 10% of the population are actively looking to remove or reduce gluten from their diet, so there is a significant opportunity for caterers who can build a reputation for offering great tasting gluten free menus, particularly favourites, such as like chips. Our McCain Gluten Free Menu Signatures Traditional Chips are available now, with Gluten Free Sweet Potato Fries to follow in April, and Gluten Free Signatures Gourmet Chips available from May. All products are available in cases of 4 x 2.5kg bags.
