Beacon’s casual dining trends for 2016

With Beacon's extensive portfolio of industry leading suppliers, we are able to identify key dining trends throughout the industry. Working with one of our suppliers, Lockhart Catering Equipment, Beacon has selected two key trends that are likely to grow in popularity in the casual dining sector in 2016.

Metals
One emerging trend that is increasing in popularity throughout the industry is the use of metals across a range of tabletop products and accessories. Serving food and drink in more innovative and exciting ways enables foodservice operators to maximise the perceived value of the overall experience, subsequently allowing them to drive revenue and increase profits. The variety of colours and materials available now is vast, from aluminium and galvanised steel, to coppers and gold. This is something we are beginning to see translate into drinks presentation, with Utopia recently launching its Creative Bar Collection featuring brushed steel, stainless steel and copper drinkware.

Breakfast
Our survey in 2015 revealed that one in three Brits are now eating breakfast out of home at least once a week. With a recent report from The NPD Group also showing that breakfast has seen a huge increase in popularity in the quick service restaurant market*, this is very much a trend we predict will continue to rise in popularity throughout 2016 in casual dining.
