We are super excited to have been shortlisted for the esteemed Supplier Award at this year’s Considerate Awards, organised by the Considerate Hoteliers Association.
The prestigious awards, which will be presented at a gala luncheon on Friday 13th June at the Langham Hilton, London, recognise businesses within the hospitality industry, which demonstrate their commitment to the community as well as the environment.
Beacon has been nominated following its work with York-based hotel, BEST WESTERN Monkbar, located on St. Maurices Road. The company has worked in partnership with the hotel to improve sustainability, and implement a procurement strategy, which not only reduces cost but also aims to support local Yorkshire businesses. This includes the installation of a Waste2Water filtration system, which literally eats waste food and considerably reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill. Strict measures have also been put in place to control gas, electric and water usage, which have resulted in utility bills being reduced by a substantial 13% every year.
Graham Usher, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Monkbar, commented:
“We have worked closely with Beacon for the past two and a half years and the team has worked with us to really impact our bottom line. I have been really impressed by Beacon, as we are now able to source produce from local farmers and businesses instead of from a national supplier, which is really important to us as a business. Beacon gives us access to a huge network of suppliers, and the support of a national company, combined with the ability to choose our suppliers and support local businesses.”
He continued: “I’d like to thank the team at Beacon for their hard work over the past few years and I wish them all the best at this year’s Considerate Hotelier Awards.”
Diane Webster, Director of Marketing at Beacon, commented:
“We’re honoured to be nominated for this accolade for the work we have been doing with the BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel. The team are all over the moon and it really is a testimony to all their hard work. It is our aim to work with all our customers to ensure they have access to the right suppliers for them, as well as support and advice when it comes to sustainability. We’d like to thank Graham for nominating us and for his continued support.”
