Bed Tax Decision

Following many campaigns against the proposed bed tax we are delighted to confirm this tax is not going ahead following a Government u-turn.

The Lyons inquiry, published 21st March 07, proposed a 5-10% tax on hotel accommodation - the focus of an ongoing battle with the tourism industry for over a year. However, on the same day the Government decided not to go ahead.

Our own research demonstrated that a Bed Tax would have had a much wider knock-on. Our members from bars, restaurants and clubs predicted they would also have felt a negative impact as a result of increasing the cost of the UK as a tourist destination.

We are sure you will agree this is a great achievement for the whole of British tourism.
